CASP Prerequisite

Hello everyone,

Have a simple question.

I have heard that there is no prerequisite to CASP and have heard that you need to have something like 10 years experience in a security domain type role. Can anyone please clear this up for me.

Thanks very much

Oh okay. I was just wondering because I'm a DOD contractor and CASP is a level 3 cert. That's why I was asking.

One of the significant things about CASP is that it has no strict entry requirements. Most IT security certifications have some kind of prerequisite course and/or work experience. CASP will let anyone attempt.

Their recommended experience is generous - 10 years in IT admin, with 5 years in Security. Experience does vary a lot though. So, if you've been an IT security specialist and had exposure to a range of areas (pentesting, forensics, policy, PKI, identity management, crypto, etc) you're probably well suited. F

The downside is that outside DOD/Government, it doesn't have a lot of recognition. But might be worthwhile starting point, as it has broad coverage and does overlap with many other security certs.
