Hello Everyone,
so basically i have graduated with IT degree, and most modules involves programming and methodology based modules, etc however there was only one module in first year known as IT fundamentals.
so basically my weakness is once i revised and given an exam, after a long while it very hard to remember stuff. Also i always struggle with exams too.
my goal is to become an IT Technician which am very good at when helping family and friends. My aim is to start comptia soon. and i got an interview at beginning of next week.
according to the job description i require knowledge, and on job interview there is written test and practical test, also numeracy and literacy test. so could any one guide me in the right direction, i want to prepare and do the best i can.
thanks a lot for your help in advance

beads Member Posts: 1,533 ■■■■■■■■■□No offense but a common complaint with recent college grads is that they do not know how to read and write. Start by getting into the habit of proper capitalization, sentence grammar and tense. These will be most noticeable to any exam reviewer.
Numeracy is nothing more than working with simple numbers. You've been doing this since Kindergarten - just relax and do math how ever makes you most comfortable. Much the same with reading comprehension.
As a dyslexic you will forever be faced struggling a bit with certain cognitive inputs. Remembering or memorizing historical facts is commonplace in many work fields, IT being no different. Relax, I don't know anyone but the most specialized of techs that seem to remember everything in there respective fields and I do mean specialist.
CompTIA exams are a great place to start once you have a job, pay check and a little itch to get back to studying.
Good luck and don't forget to ask questions along the way.

Do you think comptia will be suitable to do after IT fundamentals, or is there something else. I don't know where to start as I went through some Comptia contents and it feels like am staring into space. I feel that there is something before that to gain a better understanding. When I previously went for an interview, I failed the test because I did not know things like what is DNS, etc?
Apologies for a silly question.
Thanks for your help. -
iBrokeIT Member Posts: 1,318 ■■■■■■■■■□My advice to you is practice!
Practice everything from writing formal forum posts to improve your writing, practice the concepts that you learn in your IT classes in your home lab and practice anything else that will help you succeed in your future career.
The phrase "practice makes perfect" is common because it's true! Most of us don't have the luxury of reading about a concept once and retaining it forever, we learn it and then use those skills often.
Edit: Also, if you go into things with a defeatist attitude it will become a self fulfilling prophecy.
Put in the hard work, lots practice, keep your head up and don't be afraid of failure.2019: GPEN | GCFE | GXPN | GICSP | CySA+
