Network Discovery tool and documentation

Good Morning,
I am currently looking for a network discovery tool that will help me document the current layout. Any tips or what not? Yes you can do it the old way with Vizio or gimp, but I am sure there are better and smarter resources out there. Thank you for your time.

Have you guys heard of SpiceWorks?

Haven't had time to test it on a production environment, but it does look great at all.

Good product but can be very pricey.

It works well, if configured properly. That can't be stressed enough. When I used it, it was heavily DNS dependant and may still be that way. If your DNS is a jacked up as our environment, you may want to look for something else or get the network admins to finally look at cleaning up DNS.

real sweet but we only had 2 license, for it. The great part was they had class to use it. But when your busy hard to find time to attend class.

If you are decent at linux and python I found this on reddit a while back and it actually works pretty darn well and is free.
