job title changes

I was an IT specialist with as a contractor with the government. It was changed to Data entry operator I today to save money basically... Anyone dealt with this before?

Was it just a job title change or was your salary also changed ? One of my first jobs my job title used to change depending on my bosses mood........weird chap -

I echo what was already said. To me, data entry is not technical at all. But IT Specialist is so generic sounding, it doesn't sound like a specialist at all. I say if pay didn't cha he, meh.

That sounds like a pretty drastic title change if you were actually doing IT work. What do you actually do? Did you get a new job description that goes with the title? If you are not doing data entry work, then I personally would seriously think about leaving - simply because if you want to be in IT, that is not an IT title that could detract from your resume.
