I set up a win2003 server and did dcpromo to set up AD. Added a user name and password to log on from a client xp pc.
When I use this log on it is so slow. I have a router and one other pc on this network. The other pc is not in the domain. Do I need to also make the server a DNS server ? Will this make the log on faster. Somthing is wrong with the way I have this set up just not sure what.
Thanks

_omni_ is correct. After you set your clients to use your DC as their DNS server then you should have the speed issue resolved. -
