A job posting I came across gave me a good laugh. Some details:
"Entry-level systems administrator" for someone with "basic skills"
"1-2 years experience" with Windows/Linux systems administration
Technical certifications such as CISSP are a plus
Performing security, performance, and availability assessments
Anybody else think the second two don't belong with the first two? I'm glad the CISSP isn't required, otherwise they'd have a hard time filling the position I think.....

I'm sure most candidate who are CISSP certified has years of experience and has taken the cissp to validate their knowledge or pass HR bots so i dont see why those qualified people would apply for an entry level job paying $35,000 USD.

Maybe they were hoping for something similar. -
cyberguypr Mod Posts: 6,928 ModAt least this is a sys admin job. I've seen CISSP listed for helpdesk roles.

no way.. that JD must have been written by HR admin who have no clue and googled the term "IT certs" -
Mike7 Member Posts: 1,107 ■■■■□□□□□□HR has no idea what the initials CISSP stands for.
We already have degree mills. Very soon, someone will start a lucrative IT cert mill business if no one has.
All they need are sample certs, a scanner, photoshops skills and a good printer. -

To be fair the first two looks like government work (from contractors) and the DoD is all sorts of retarded with their certificates. The DoD requires one of those certs for that position even if its help desk. These articles and posts are my own opinion and do not reflect the view of my employer.

TechGromit Member Posts: 2,156 ■■■■■■■■■□The problem is often job postings are written by HR people who have no understanding what they are asking for. Often they are using a template that's years outdated. I don't know how many times I was an in interview and said I had experience with this or that and was told me we don't use that here.Still searching for the corner in a round room.
