What's happening when you try to do it?

I've had a search around the Cisco documentation but can't find any mention of it not being available.

I am using Packet Tracer .ON the 819HGW Router I cannot assign IP
to the fastethernet interfaces , though I can assign them to the gigabit,serial and wlan-ap?
Cant do it via the GUI or command line...?

They are L2 ports. Create a VLAN and assign the ports to that VLAN.
