ISC2l Training feedback please
Has anyone here attended the live online or on-demand CCSP certification training that is offered by ISC2?
Just looking for some feedback on how worth it is.
Or is reading through the CBK enough?
Is it simply watching a video of an instructor reading the CBK out aloud??
Or is it actually training in the sense of the CBK domains, cloud concepts that we're tested on etc being explained?
What is the value proposition of this course if its not exam-prep?
The only ones who'd consider attending the course are experienced professionals who meet the required amount of mandatory work experience to sit the exam.
Thanks for reading.

That being said, you cannot rely solely on a week long classroom training alone to pass the exam. Most of the success stories I've read state that it complemented their preparation at best. I would suggest watching the free cybrary training series along with a good book and practice questions for your strategy. Many people who've passed the exam have given Kelly's video series a thumbs up! Good luck!

You will still need to read, study and read some more. If you have several years of experience in several of the domains, well you might be ok with just taking the class and testing. But from my personal experience, the class was great, our instructor was great. The class showed me my weak points and during that week I made sure to study those areas and to focus on my practice test questions from those areas. I passed the test at the end of the class. Now I also ready several books, several study notes, watched the cybrary.it and CCCure videos and done several practice test to include Transcender and CCCure.

cledford3 Member Posts: 66 ■■■□□□□□□□I thought the ISC2 class was horrible! When considering the cost, it was not defensible. However, to make matters worse, the fact is that they advertise and sell it AS A BOOTCAMP! They charge 'bootcamp' fees. They STRONGLY 'encourage' people (most coming in completely cold with zero prep) to take exam at the end of 5 days. That is a bootcamp.
The issue is, in my opinion, the new courseware is terrible and the CBK nearly incoherent. The instructors (based on my experience and input from 'retakes') don't believe in the extra content (the extra 2 hours a day and 'custom review' on Saturday) and reluctantly drag their feet to do it at all - refusing to even cover much of the additional material. (We were given the 'choice' to do it on our own back in the hotel - and even people who did not pay for the extra trainingcamp material were allowed to vote...) The instructors (according to our instructor) are not allowed to take the new exam - or they are penalized by ISC2 by not being allowed to teach for 6 months after taking it. Therfore they've had ZERO incentive to learn or understand the new (post April 2015) content.
In my opinion, the ISC2 training is a joke.
Do yourself a favor - either take a REAL bootcamp - or use the Cybrary videos - they are outstanding.
