Hi Guys,

I'm new here and I'm looking to further my Cisco certifications again as I have been working with SBC's and Broadsoft (Hosted/SIP trunks) for a while.

I currently have a valid CCNA/CCNA voice certification and I am aware of the current changes with the exams i.e (CIPTV1 & 2 etc)

I would like to study and write the CIPTV1 exam before the Q1 2016 but seem to be struggling to get self study materials. Please can someone advise me here with regards to the study materials for CIPTV1 and CIPTV2.

Thanks in advance and your response would be most appreciated

Regards

Dolapo

    Hi,

The books are due to be released next year. I've spoken with both CBT nuggets and IPexpert and both are releasing videos next year, I believe IPexpert's will be ready in February.

Most of the old CCNP Voice material will still be relevant so I'd start reading/watching thatl. Additionally you will been to have CCNA Collaboration before you can earn CCNP Collaboration - you can still take the exams though.

    Hope this helps.

I recommend you use material for CIPT1 and CVOICE as the syllabus covers the topics that were in both of those exams. The only thing thats new in the syllabus are these topics:

4.3 Configure Cisco TelePresence Conductor4.4 Describe global conference settings

4.5 Configure MSE 8000 chassis, supervisor blade and media blade
1.5 Describe VCS calling privileges, rules, class of services (transforms, search rules, and zones)

I wouldn't wait on the new material to come out because it will be months until it is released. I spoke to Andy the IPexpert Collaboration instructor a month ago asking what is he using as reference to get the vod's updated SRND, etc. He said honestly he has not looked into it yet but my best bet was to go through the SRND. Don't be surprised if IPexpert releases that series months behind of schedule. The first book CITPV2 will be released before CITPV1 which I believe will be released in May or June 2016.

I recommend you get your lab together and match the current CIPTV1 syllabus to the topics in CIPT1 and CVOICE to get started.

Just as a update to this - the new CAPPS book is now out. I also spoke with Kevin Wallace and he is releasing CCNA/CCNP Collaboration videos in March.

Thanks very much for the response Alex.

I only just did my CCNA Voice in Dec 2014. Are you saying I still need to do CCNA collaboration before I can start the CCNP Voice Exams in January 2016?

    Thanks Alex

CCNP Voice has been retired and the new track is Collaboration. If you have a CCNA Voice and you want to do CCNP Collaboration then you will need to meet the pre-requisite which is to hold a valid CCNA Collaboration. However you will only need to pass the 210-065 CIVND exam if you have a CCNA Voice (providing you passed ICOMM and not the old one).

You can still do all of the CCNP Collaboration exams before doing CCNA Collaboration but you won't be awarded the certification until you meet the pre-requisites.

I'm in the same position as you - I just ordered the book for the 210-065 CIVND exam yesterday. There is study material out for the CCNA Collaboration so why don't you do this first? By the time you've passed it there will be more material out for the CCNP - plus if you ever want the CCNP you are going to have to do the CCNA anyway...
