    What exactly are you trying to remove ASDM access or the ASDM image from the flash? Can you post the output from the command dir all on the ASA.

    Thanks

    I want to uninstall ASDM from ASA, like when you uninstall a program from windows. i have removed the ASDM image from flash and did a "config factory-default" but i am stil able to connect to the ASA through ASDM. I dont want to limit who can access to the ASA through ASDM ( i know i can do that ). Im just wondering if you can uninstall it from the ASA. like its not there anymore.

    Ok if you want to delete it from flash.

    delete disk0:asdm-XXX.bin (whatever the asdm name in flash)

    All the config factory-default does is reset the settings to factory default not removing that image from the flash.

    show asdm image
    no asdm image disk0:/
    <file>
    write mem

    That should do it.

    You don't have to actually delete the whole image :)

    Thank you for your replies. I now understand that ASDM doesnt live in ASA but on a local computer connecting to ASA. ASA only stores the installation package.

    Regarding JAVA... my life is better off with out java. :p

    I think Java makes everyone want to drink just a little bit more.

    Especially when you're not on the right version and you're playing version-roulette to find which one FINALLY going to work with this application on your specific OS

    That was a nightmare with ASDM version 6 seemed to only work with Java 6u25 everything else was hit or miss. It seems that Cisco finally updated the code or whatever because on ASDM version 7.4+ it plays nice with the new java version.
