in CCNA & CCENT
So after a long awaited test, I felt I was finally ready to take the exam. I'm part of the Cisco Networking Academy and figured since it's winter break, I should go ahead and take the CCENT (as the CCNA part starts on the 19th). I went in feeling confident, and answered each question to the best of my knowledge. In fact, there was a question I didn't know.
Anyways, my scores are indicated as follows:
Operation of IP Data Networks: 67%
LAN Switching Technologies: 64%
IP Addressing (IPv4/IPv6): 83%
IP Routing Technologies: 79%
IP Services: 75%
Network Device Security: 50%
Troubleshooting: 71%
Score: 784 out of a Passing 804.
I felt extremely confident in subnetting - I study about 15 minutes each day, and can do problem in my head within 20-30 seconds. What was nice was having the white board and writing down all the tables before the exam even started. My question is where can I improve in each category. Network Device Security seems my weakest - I'm assuming that's ACL, Port Security, etc? It was one of those tests where I said in my head "Man, this test is way eaiser than I expected! Answering simple questions, simulations that were obvious, and subnetting problems that stood out". Anyways, I'm a little dissapointed that I failed, but am going to study the extra mile to pass next time around. Hoping to take it mid-February (13th probably). Any ideas where I can start? I have Odom's book, as well as the 31 Days Before Your CCENT Exam. Thanks in advance for the input!

What I would do is print out a copy of the blueprint(https://learningnetwork.cisco.com/community/certifications/ccna/icnd1_v2/exam-topics) and then use Odom and Google to review each topic. What I like to do is write down book page #s on the printout for easy review. Spend extra time on topics you did poorly on. Don't ignore ACL and IPV6 jsut because they weren't on this exam, they could be on the next exam.
Good luck! -
fuz1on Member Posts: 961 ■■■■□□□□□□Sorry to hear, Troy! 784 is really close so just keep working hard! I failed CCENT by 3 and 14 points before I passed - and I know many others have had a TOUGH time. It's a 20% pass rate for a reason and Cisco really keeps up with exam updates to stay ahead of the game. As for tips, it's really difficult to pinpoint any particular area for you to concentrate on since your scores are all around the same %. I think to pass you have to score close to 100% in 2-3 domains to even give yourself a chance. Good luck and you'll get it next time!timku.com(puter) | ProHacker.Co(nsultant) | ITaaS.Co(nstultant) | ThePenTester.net | @fuz1on

Tmaiorca Member Posts: 6 ■□□□□□□□□□Thanks for the reply! I don't feel as bad for not passing, knowing that even though this is an "entry level exam", others are quite susceptible to failing as well. It was a very close score, I just hope next time if I do end up failing, I won't get a lesser score! Appreciate the input!

I used Boson and Transcender for the first time (since it was part of my WGU tuition) and both really helped me with ICND1.timku.com(puter) | ProHacker.Co(nsultant) | ITaaS.Co(nstultant) | ThePenTester.net | @fuz1on
