Figured I would ask here before querying WGU ans start an onslaught of spam mail...lol. I received an A.A.S.-Computer Forensics & Security in 2009 from a local community college, as well as an A.A.S.-Network & PC Specialist in 2008 from the same school. I then received a B.S,-Information Technology from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio in 2010 (graduated from the community college with a 3.86 and Franklin with a 3.83 GPA). I also received my A+ and Network+ in 2010 and will have my Security+ in a couple of weeks then will start studying for the CISSP and hopefully complete it before the end of this year.

As far as work history and experience I worked in the local school district in the IT dept as support doing mostly end user support, creating images, imaging laptops, etc. I worked there for 2 years (2009-2011). I then worked at a local manufacturing facility as a Systems Administrator from 2011-2015. I administered a Linux firewall, mail server, fileserver, Nagios, Windows AD (user accounts, GPO's, permissions, etc. My current position is a Systems Engineer (2015 to current). My main duties are scanning servers with Nessus and remediating vulnerabilities by applying patches, fixing service permissions, etc.

I was looking at the WGU M.S.-Cybersecurity and Information Assurance. Any thoughts on this choice? Any idea how long it may take? Cost? (I'm still paying on my current student loans)

I'm not in a rush to start this and may not even go through with it but just looking at my options. My main objective is to make myself more employable and to help make my resume stand out, not to mention furthering my knowledge base.

WGU is self-paced, self -study. Meaning you take as long as you want or as little as you want to pass a course if you devote time on your courses. For example, you can finish a course in 1 week if you do all the assessments and pass the required tests while others might finish the same course in 1 month. As far as cost is concerned, the fee is a standard 2.9k per term(6 months) tuition I believe which is around 5.8k per year. Technically if you are a strong self study learner you could finish the entire degree in 6 months and only pay 2.9k.

Scroll to the middle of the below page to see an explanation of how cost is calculated, under section "Cost of earning a degree".
