Where to even begin?!
Hey guys,
Looking to take the courses for CompTIA A+ as well as N+. However, I see a bunch of sites offering classes for a variety of fees and then a few that are ffreee? So my question to you all is, what is the best online resource to take these classes that will not cost me an arm and a leg or are these "free ones" good enough? Also I see some providing the courses for 801-802 and some for the 900 series, what is the difference between the two and what is the industry standard for today? Also, which company/site would be the next best to take the actual certificate Exam?
Any and all answers help, thank you.

Hi
These are great entry level certs to get you started. It is very possible to pass the A and N+ entirely via self study. I recommend the Mike Meyers All-in-one text books which are around $35 each from Amazon, they are what I used:
http://www.amazon.com/CompTIA-Certification-Guide-220-901-220-902/dp/125958951X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1458055083&sr=8-1&keywords=a%2B
CompTIA Network+ All-In-One Exam Guide, Sixth Edition (Exam N10-006): Mike Meyers: 9780071848220: Amazon.com: Books
When I took the tests, I scheduled them myself via www.Prometric.com I believe the cost was around $150 for each exam. If Prometric doesn't proctor the CompTia exams anymore, try PearsonVue: https://home.pearsonvue.com/
Professor Messer is also a great resource for these tests: Professor Messer IT Certification Training Courses and there are plenty more videos that cover the syllabus on YouTube.
I don't believe there is a need to take a class to pass these tests. It should be possible to become certified for a $200 investment in a good text book and exam voucher.
Hope this helps.

techtia Member Posts: 144Do some research on this forum before you decide on a book. A really good book is the Exam Cram 6th Edition by David Prowse, but again do some research. The poster above me is correct, you can pass these exams by just reading a book. I suggest you go through the forum pages and read threads already started, they have lots of advice.
