Hello there everyone. I'm in the process of exploring different careers, and the Systems Analyst position seems appealing so far. I'm trying to find out what employers look for when hiring for entry/junior/newly grad level Business/Computer Systems Analysts positions. I just need a heads up just for future reference. Also, what are the duties typically assigned to these positions? How's the job growth as well? Any senior computer analysts find it easy to get jobs? I am in the LA/Orange County Area.
I am currently finishing my last semester at a community college and I'll earn my Associates In Science in Business Administration, and I am using this AS degree to get enrolled at Cal State Polytechnic Pomona this Fall 2016 in their BSBA Computer Information Systems major program (already admitted). Also, I've been a part time PC technician for 2 years with some onsite experience (PC troubleshooting, installing routers, printers, modems, hardware upgrades, desktop building, virus removals, data recovery exc). I soon want to start looking for more advanced jobs to build experience, but not sure what to look for. Should also spend some time earning certifications relevant to an analyst type position? What certifications would help?
Also another note; I am still very open to other more technical careers like database, software development, networking exc depending on what I truly find most enjoyable while I finish these last two years as a CIS major.
I will appreciate any tips, recommendations, and opinions.
