Depends some future employers may require it.. I like in the UK so CompTIA really isnt a requirement or that popular with employers.. I am only doing it for the learning element as Im rusty and new to IT. I work on a helpdesk also.

I have almost 20 yrs in IT, Jobless right now. Many, many places shut the door on me because I didn't have A+. Keep in mind, Hiring mgr might say ok get me someone with 1,2 and 3 t. HR doesn't know really know what 1,2 and 3 really are but she has to find people with it. Make sense ?
