LACP port priority & system priority

I understand the use of lacp port-priority as it determines if an int is active/ standby in an etherchannel but I do not understand where the lacp system-priority cmd would be used or why.

The system priority determines which device on either end of the port-channel would get to determine which ports are active, and which ports are in standby.
