What asa license does one need to study for the ccna:s? security plus or base license, number of users, VPNs, etc?
What would be good for the ccnp:s?
Thanks

Why not use GNS3 and save money?

I'm trying to help out a friend that wants to use real hardware. And, I'd like to help him out so he doesn't waste his money buying something that isn't usable because it has the wrong license or version of the software.

So, anyone care to help a fellow out?

    Thanks

In that case, get 5505 with security plus. It won't support some features that 5510 or higher does, like multiple contexts, stateful and active/active failover. But if needed, you could do them in GNS3.

I was never able to get the ASA OS to work correctly in GNS3. Nowadays, an ASA 5505 with Base license can be had for about $60-70 on eBay, so not too bad.
