Hi all,
I have recently applied for Fidelity Investments LEAP program for entry level positions. Has anyone here heard, interviewed, or work for them? This will be my first I.T job as I am making a career switch from Criminal Justice. Current experience is Master's degree in Criminal Justice and working as a police dispatcher/911 operator. I have one more class to complete my bachelor's of Information Technology, which I will take over the summer. So as part of the program you go train for 6 months in NC. I had a brief phone interview with a senior guy on the team and he seemed to like me as he wants me to do a video interview with the manager of the team next week.
I have never had a phone or a video interview before, so what can I expect? Either with this company or with other jobs you have interviewed for?
Below is the role, I will assume after I complete the LEAP training program. (if I get selected for the job..lol)
Associate Systems Services Support Analyst
Position Description
This role serves to streamline and simplify interactions between Business Units and Enterprise Infrastructure,
and provides a focal point to coordinate the design and delivery of new infrastructure solutions. Each
infrastructure delivery specialist works with their assigned Business Unit(s), to ensure business unit
infrastructure (server, storage, network, middleware and database) requirements, and timelines are met.
Primary Responsibilities:
Major Responsibilities % of Time
Understand the BU application/technology environment, and contribute to project planning and execution to
ensure highest quality service delivery across all EI support teams
Serve as a technology partner and dedicated single point of contact – providing status and feedback to
customers related to the progress of in-flight server/infrastructure deployment activities
Provide overall coordination of EI tasks supporting infrastructure deployment projects and complex
server/environment builds
Managing the deployment of middleware, databases and web services as part of initial base-builds to make
deployment more “application install ready”.
Provide a single focus for resolution/escalation of issues encountered during the build process
Skills and Knowledge
Ability to work across teams, exerting great influence over resources not directly controlled is required.
Ability to juggle competing priorities, while focused on the mission, is required.
Working cross-functional knowledge of EI serviced business units is a strong plus.
Project Management skills
Familiarity with servers, operating systems and hypervisors (AIX, Solaris, Windows, Linux, ESX/VMware)
Knowledge of backup and storage infrastructure, replication technologies etc.
Understanding of basic network concepts (physical infrastructure, protocols, traffic management)
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)
As far as my experience, I completed programming C, HTML, SQL, Linux as part of my degree not an expert by any means. I have also completed the first half of my A+ exam. I made that clear over the phone interview that I didn't have any hands on experience working with technology. So any advice that you will like to provide, I'll be more than happy to listen to it. Thank you all in advance, sorry for the long post.

I am from Boston, so I didn't fly anywhere. -
ortizf3 Member Posts: 21 ■□□□□□□□□□oh ok thanks, I am from the Greater Boston area. Maybe they just change it, but for theLEAP you need to train in NC. Thanks for the response.

aderon Member Posts: 404 ■■■■□□□□□□I've always wanted to join a company that had one of those entry level fast track programs. I imagine the training would be fairly valuable and I think they would consider you as an investment rather than just random employee #1344532. I've heard companies that have these programs like to promote from them. Good luck!2019 Certification/Degree Goals: AWS CSA Renewal (In Progress), M.S. Cybersecurity (In Progress), CCNA R&S Renewal (Not Started)

That's because they move most of their IT down to Raleigh. You used to be able to go to Merrimack and Smithfield. -
