After 3.5 months of searching and about 20 interviews later (tech screens, phone interviews, face-to-face), I received an offer letter a few hours after the initial interview. This was yesterday around 2:00 PM. I will mention that this is a career change for me. Always been a tech hobbyist and decided I wanted to pursue a career in it.
Some advice for people in my situation:
Write a cover letter explaining why you want the job and express your passion for the field in general. I also was not working, by choice, and explained why I was not working. The reasons included getting certifications, labbing, and also because I had moved states.
Apply at smaller businesses. I found I had the most luck with this. I also had the most luck on Craigslist (where I found this job) and LinkedIn.
Just my experience. Good luck, you'll need it.
Job Title: Network Support Engineer
I am sure there is more I can put on here but I am going to ride my motorcycle.
