A question about Speedtest.net
Hi Everyone,
How does Speedtest work? For example if i get a result of 100Mbps/down, did it really use that much bandwidth? I ask because I ran the test through a Cisco 3560 switch, and i set the bandwidth for only 1 Meg. But I still got a download result of 100Mbps.
Actually it may be more complex than that. I see that the show controllers utilaztion command displays as a percent. Is that a percent of the physical capability or a percent of the configured 'bandwidth 1000' command?
Any ideas?
Thanks!

TomkoTech Member Posts: 438I think it uses point to point which would be your modem. So unless you are throttling it at the modem you won't see that. Running speedtest on a wireless G device at my home will show I am get 200x50 when I know the device doesn't get 200Mbps on wireless.
