VPLS network examples
hey guys
where can you find VPLS network training and examples. Are they in a CCIE SP exam and course?
We have vpls CE routers into our vpls cloud and want some examples and training on it.
I have googled vpls but get alot of juniper stuff not much Cisco stuff and I cannt find any training on VPLS PE CE type scenarios.

Etc
hi there, first you need to figure out the OS you want to learn it on (IOS/IOS-XE/IOS-XR/JunOS/etc). From there you need to break yourself of the cisco only naming convention and go to the standard Metro Ethernet convention (E-Line/E-Lan/etc). Once you are there then use the DOC-CD to locate the exact thing you need. typically they are called the "carrier Ethernet model" in cisco terms but in past generations it was called VPLS/VPWS/AToM/L2TPv3/psuedowire/xconnect but they are all centered around the EXACT same thing.
MPLS Fundamentals
There is also a few chapters on P2P layer 2 VPN and VPLS (multipoint) which you will be interested in.
If you have some good experience with MPLS, you can supplement MPLS Fundamentals with MPLS in the SDN era.
MPLS in the SDN Era - O'Reilly Media
That covers VPLS on IOS-XR and MX series routers (geared towards large SPs) but the concepts are the same which I'm guessing is what you are after seeing as you are coming at this as the customer rather than the provider

i know the price is high, but i see a "read for free with our app" that you may find useful. if you dont need this ultra level of detail they make an intro version:
http://www.amazon.com/Introduction-Carrier-Ethernet-foundation-MEF-CECP/dp/1519117566/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463494454&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=metro+ethernet+cecp
both are vendor neutral and explain MEF (l2vpn) from a standards based with plenty of pictures to help you see the SP side.
edit: this is the cisco carrier ethernet model: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/asr9000/software/asr9k_r4-3/lxvpn/configuration/guide/lesc43xbook/lesc43ethi.html
note: that it is on IOS-XR for the ASR9000 series.
Here is a solid resource for the CCIE-SP called "notes the series" that shows examples in ios/ios-xr of the configurations:
http://ccie-in-2-months.blogspot.gr/2014/01/nts-atoml2vpnvpls.html
note: this was built for v3 of the SP which means its using the older IOS syntax based, v4 uses the newer one in IOS, IOS-XR however is the same across versions.
hi, got my ccna>ccnp>cissp>jncia-junos>jncia-ent>jncis-ent>ccie-R&S-written>ccie-R&S>jncip-ent>ccie-SP written. next up is my ccie-SP lab.
the order of them is based on what i was doing at the time or what i was required to get to keep my job while working in the DoD and beyond. got my CCNA when i was 18 due to the "cisco network academy" in high school. so it has taken me now 14 years to get this far, most of which time ive worked in very large enterprise networks and a service provider network.
