Jobs Like IT Consulting

Hello all, I have been looking into IT consulting here lately, and I must say I am really intrigued by having something new and different to do all the time, new technologies, new people, etc. Really think I would love something like this, however I only have one cert (CCNA) and a year or so of experience, and I imagine I am not qualified to be a consultant about anything.
But are there any jobs in IT that are like this where I will be able to work with different technologies all the time? I was thinking the closest thing to this that I have found is being a contractor, that is, working as a contractor for 3, 6, 9 months doing one thing and then moving onto another contract....thoughts? Advice? Thanks!
