resume critique

As requested this is my resume. I'm not sure if applying for a government/federal or private sector format makes a difference. Hopefully with your help I can improve it. icon_cheers.gif

Thank you in advance for your time!

I know nothing of .gov so here's my corporate America feedback:
    - As stated in the other thread, 5 pages are too much. I personally do not read 5 pages when looking for candidates
    - Consider opening with a professional summary
    - I don't like the bullet fest. I live to see a paragraph listing impotrant duties followed by a few bullets that present key, tangible and measurable accomplishments. I see that you have some so make sure you use them effectively
    - I would remove things that sounds too basic, like rewiring, and anything else that basically anyone can do. Again, you want to show important stuf f that sets you apart form every other guy out there
    - The double space is extremely atypical. White space is normally good but it serves zero purpose here
    - Not a fan of putting the address on the resume (can you tell I'm a security guy?)
    - Where did you get that AAS? hope this is int he non-redacted version
    - That list of professional skills has got to go. What purpose does it serve? It look like you are trying to hard
    - Browsers: has to go. You are saying you can use what 80% of the population use
    - Hardware: again, doesn't tell me much. I would scrap it. If you really want to highlight any of this, include it in the job experience

Remember that If i post a position on a job board I will most likely have dozens of resumes to look at. The guy with a 5 page resume who's trying to hard will one of the first one to go into the circular file. Also, make sure you customize your resume to the position you are applying for.

    Here are my tips

    - limit bullets to 3-4 per job
    - expand on what you did instead of listing a bunch of bullets
    - No need for a professional summary
    - Scrap all of the professional skills and incorporate them into what you did. List the skills pertating to the job. it looks like you just listed every skill known to man in hopes of getting resume hits
    - Google a resume format for IT jobs and use something more formatted to the industry
