Hello Everyone,

I was previous VCP 4.0 and being lazy never renewed my cert but I work on VMware on a daily basis on 5.5 and 6.0. I had a book from a friend of mine who had taken Install and Configure 6.0 Training class. I studied through the material and took the 2V0-620 (Foundation) and 2V0-621 (VMware Certified Professional 6) Exam and passed both of them. I wanted to know where can I take certified cheap training class just so I can become officially certified.

I start the Install, Configure, and Manage course tomorrow online at Stanly Community College for $185 (plus $66 for the book). It is an official VMware course. They offer Install, Configure, and Manage as well as Optimize and Scale. https://www.stanly.edu/future-students/continuing-education/technology-courses/vmware-vsphere-install-configure-manage There seems to be some caveats if you have already taken the exams. There's a StanlyCC Representative that floats on these boards that could give you the details.

Thank you, do you know if it's online class? How far in advanced did you have to register for this class?

Thank you for your interest in taking a class with us here at SCC. We are an authorized VMware IT Academy, and the course we offer meets the education portion of the VM certification. However, we can offer the VMware course only to individuals and not as part of corporate training. Additionally, this course is designed for students who have not yet taken the VCP exam. Students who have already passed the exam would still have to retake the exam using the voucher given at the end of the course in order to receive full VMware VCP certification.

This course is offered under the umbrella of Continuing Education, and it is conducted online, including labs, in an asynchronous manner which basically means it is available to students 24/7. Students can study at their own pace provided you meet the minimum due dates set by the instructor. The courses are 8 weeks in length, and the current tuition & lab fee costs total $185. There is also an optional textbook in both hard copy and e-book formats available through our book store. We are currently teaching the 5.5 version of the VMware curriculum.

We enroll students in the VMware courses in the order in which they registered on our online wait list. If you have not added your information to this list please do so at https://vmware.stanly.edu/waitlist.php. We apologize for any delay, but as you can imagine these classes are extremely popular. We make every effort to accommodate all students in a timely manner.

At this time, due to evolving changes in higher education regulations, SCC is unable to serve all of the students that are interested in our courses or programs. SCC will no longer be able to offer distance education online programs or courses for students residing in Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Puerto Rico.

Thank you, do you know if it's online class? How far in advanced did you have to register for this class?

It is an online, gated self-paced course. You do not need to meet at any particular time, but you do need to log in the first day and consistently progress in the course. You cannot sign up, and then do all the work in the last couple of weeks.

It was about 6 weeks from joining the waitlist to the start of the course. I received notification of which class I would be joining in only 2 weeks after joining the waitlist. Reading the forums, it seems like other people had to wait up to 6 months, so it may depend on the time of year.

This may be an issue for you. I'm not sure if the same circumstance applies to other training organizations.

No it would not apply to when the training is given by VMware or a VATC - there would be no need to re-take the exams.
