so while i was poking around for options to further my education I found this school.
DBA - Information Systems and Enterprise Resource Management | California Intercontinental University
Pro's
Its fully online
Not to expensive
two years long.
Cons
only a nationally accredited school
Look at the school tell me what you think this might be a option for me. I kinda get paid to go to school.

TranceSoulBrother Member Posts: 215There are better options.
Look into NorthCentral University in AZ, Dakota State University, Nova Southeastern, Walden, Capella.
Granted, of those, NCU is the only one fully online. But don't go cheap for some shitty school with a two year doctorate. No one will give you any respect for your DBA.
I wish that veterans would stop thinking about the GI Bill as free money that they can waste on schools like Ashford or even UoP, start in a program that they know is not good, costs an arm and a leg and give them not much benefit in return. -
Clm Member Posts: 444 ■■■■□□□□□□Pump your breaks guy I don't think of the GI bill as "free" money. I think of it as "my" money I spent 7 years in the military and plenty of time overseas so I can spend it at which ever school i feel benefits me.
If you don't like these type of schools that fine but don't bash them I have a good paying job now from one of these schoolsI find your lack of Cloud Security Disturbing!!!!!!!!!

TranceSoulBrother Member Posts: 215???. Not many are unique snowflakes in that realm. I've spent my fair share in the box and am currently at the tail end of trip #4 to this region. So no one is bashing your service.
I'm bashing the lack of foresight of many veterans who take the easy route.
If you don't believe me, get on Inside HigherEd or other sites and read about the for-profit education industry that preys on Vets and their GI Bill.
I'm not particular to any school but a doctorate in 2 years? Just go pay for a dissertation from any Russian university and save yourself the hassle if you want to call yourself Doctor. Vladimir Putin benefited from it lol.
How can one claim to learn the intricacies of their particular topic in the field where they write a dissertation if they only spent 2 years on all the coursework on top of the dissertation? even if the DBA is for "practitioners"
Craziness!!! -
Clm Member Posts: 444 ■■■■□□□□□□I never said I was a unique snowflake there are plenty of vets on this site. But what i don't like is someone trying demean others cause you have a grudge against a school choice.
I believe you can master a subject in two years especially when you have been working in a subject for multiple years.
but thank you for your opinion.I find your lack of Cloud Security Disturbing!!!!!!!!!

Mastery in this field is an illusion.

Or wrong Im better and security than understanding women.I find your lack of Cloud Security Disturbing!!!!!!!!!

OctalDump Member Posts: 1,722How I would approach a doctoral program would be to figure out what I am interested in, explore possible questions, get some preliminary work done (reading, research, notes, becoming expert), find out who the experts are in academia, and then shop around to see if any are interested in what I have.
Doctoral programs, more than others, are very much dependent on the faculty you are working with. Since you are poking at the edges of knowledge, you need people who can help you. You will (if the doctorate is worth anything) actually end up doing something that hasn't been done before and end up the expert in your very small area. That's the aim.
So I wouldn't necessarily start with looking at programs or schools, but at who can help me to understand and answer the question.2017 Goals - Something Cisco, Something Linux, Agile PM -

What if said person has a NA BS then a RA Masters? Would your company recognize that? I'm just curious, while not super common some people go to NA schools for their UG then realize the limitations of a NA degree then try to right the ship by getting a RA Masters.Liberty University - Overton Graduate School of Business -Class of 2013-

Azubi Member Posts: 8 ■■■□□□□□□□I would be extremely wary of nationally accredited, for-profit schools and would hesitate to recommend one to anyone outside of a very limited set of circumstances. If you are serious about doctoral studies, a school like that would not be the best choice. If you are just looking for something to pad your resume and not much more, then maybe it would be okay. In terms of value for the money, there are better options, but as you said, it is your GI Bill benefits to do with as you wish. But if you're asking for an honest assessment, my recommendation would be to find a different program.
