Router Startup
eng_ahmedas
Hi All
I wish u r fine.I have question about router startup.when router startup, it performs POST and then Bootstrap excuted.
what i know about POST that it checks for hardware. Also Bootstrap first check on hardware then initialize IOS.
Is the check that POST do is the same as that of Bootstrap. If yes, then why we use both.If no then what is the difference.
Another question,What is means by initialize IOS ????
Thanks in advance

Post and bootstrap do two different things!
Post - Power on self test checks for hardware to make sure it's present and then tests the hardware to make sure it is fully functioning.
- once completed -
Bootstrap - Will search for and locate the ios so that it can initialize it to allow the device to boot up. Without it your device wouldn't boot because it would have no way of knowing where the ios is.
An A+ or similar hardware course will definitely help you understand the boot process in much more depth.
