Creating network diagrams

I am looking for a software that will make the discovery of network devices much easier and provide many useful features. I looked into Solarwinds network topology mapper, I can make it work, but looking if there is anything better. In addition is there any tool that would allow the discovery of end devices, identify the manufacturer by mac, and show exactly where they are located on the switch.
