Junior DevOps in Toronto - reasonable salary expectations?

Hi all,
I have an opportunity for a Junior DevOps role in DT Toronto.
I have two years of Linux work experience, experience with some SAN, a fair bit of network switch configuration, worked with VMware, Powershell, bash (autoexpect/expect for automating deployments, as well as loops in Bash), etc. I have a degree in Arts and an Advanced Certificate in Network Administration from a well known Technical school. I am Linux+/LPIC-1, MCSA '08 R2, Network+, Suse 11 (cuz of the Linux+), and will be Security+ certified. My bash skills I would say are still beginner but I have been able to do a fair bit with the knowledge I do have.
The position asks for Python which I don't have much of, however the company understands my abilities. I think they are interested in me because I am a quick learn, hard-working, and very very versatile. I can learn different kinds of knowledge easily...
That being said, I've seen some crazy salaries for Devops that I'm not expecting. What would be reasonable? The thing I like about this company is they are willing to show me the ropes.
Thank you!
p.s. my only concern with the position is that it is titled as Junior Linux System administrator whereas I have some experience as a Linux admin already...not sure that matters.

Chinook Member Posts: 206Hard to put down an exact number but I'd say 55-75K a year is reasonable depending on the company, benefit package, etc. It sounds like a good foot in the door. As for Python, it's not overly difficult to pick up & there is lots of free/cheap training on it. A intermediate Linux guy in Toronto (enterprise) will get you 90K+

With that being said, don't worry about what other people are getting paid for the same position title. DevOps is really a cultural movement. In HR/Enterprise, it has nothing to do w/ culture and means something different to every company. Just take full advantage of the opportunity to learn and realize that there's high potential with the skills you'll be learning, which you can monetize on in the future.
Get to cracking on Python. It's an easy language to learn the basics of.Goals for 2018:
Certs: RHCSA, LFCS: Ubuntu, CNCF CKA, CNCF CKAD | AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialist, GCP Professional Cloud Architect
Learn: Terraform, Kubernetes, Prometheus & Golang | Improve: Docker, Python Programming
To-do | In Progress | Completed -

Industry also has a lot to do with it.An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made.
