It's one thing to say not to worry about it. It's another to ignore it and say that the disparity doesn't exist.

Edit: But to clarify, I guess it's less an IT issue and more a societal issue. Which is why I take the standpoint of, although it exists, don't worry about it and focus on just improving your skills -- both technical and soft.
