Hello good people of TE,
I will be actively seeking a new position soon and I would like some feedback/suggestions to improve my resume. I welcome all comments.

Here's some background: I have been at my current job for 13 months (tier 1 NOC technician) and I am ready for some new responsibilities. During that 13 months, I have gotten Net+, Linux+ and CCNA (through WGU) and have worked with Linux/Cisco/Juniper equipment. Being a tier 1 tech, I do not have login access to any of the network equipment and it is near impossible to apply the knowledge I have gained in the last year. There is also a hiring freeze after a recent merger and we have no vacancy in the networking department. Also, pay is really poor (in the low 30s) and management has failed to deliver on a promise of a performance review, which is 7 months late at this point.
Thanks much ladies and gents

I don't have any gripes, a resume is like a painting certain people are going to enjoy it more than others, with that said some painting are just plain crappy, IMO yours is not.
I think with that resume you should be able to land a NOC 2 position. Ideally I would like to see you get 2 years on the NOC level 1 then transition, but life isn't perfect and you have met the 1 year minimum (one of my rules). One thing I would consider doing is removing looking for the junior network admin position. I wouldn't specify in that section. -
ypark Member Posts: 120 ■■■□□□□□□□Thanks for the input DatabaseHead. At my current work place, we do not have tier 2 positions and the culture and environment has gone down hill in the last 6 months after a management change. I'm sure they are intentionally not giving me the scheduled review since that would mean a raise. Without a pay raise and increased responsibilities, I don't think I can stand this place for another year..
I really do like the data center environment and I would like to be a network engineer one day. Will I be able to land a junior position after a couple of years as tier 2 NOC or is three years in a data center environment not enough for an engineer role? Any recommendations as to job titles and certifications I should shoot for to make it there in two years?
Again, thanks in advance for any input.2022 Goals: [PCNSE] [JNCIS-SP] [JNCIS-SEC] [JNCIS-DevOps] -
DatabaseHead Member Posts: 2,754 ■■■■■■■■■■I think from a certification perspective you are set. Linux, Security + and the CCNA are mighty fine certifications, and I am under the impression would be enough to get a networking level 2 positions even a admin position.
While I don't know for sure....... I would think it would be a good move, to move into a networking analyst or NOC level 2 role. It may even be another NOC 1 role, but in the job req it shows additional duties and responsibilities it maybe worth pursuing especially if there is more pay involved. By title it maybe viewed as a lateral but if the skills used improve you as a networking professional and the pay is higher then I would even consider that. Especially if your current work environment isn't all that great. -
DCD Member Posts: 475 ■■■■□□□□□□Not bad but I would change a few things. I would move Technology Summary above Education. I would change "and other Linux" to the version you know how to use. instead of "and other Linux" either name them or leave that off. Put the server Other is not a big demand for Apple server admins. Change that undefined section after your information to a summary of work you done something similar to what you said on your current job section.
