Informational Interviews needed before Sept 12

Hi all, I'm new here. (Good grief, y'all got a lot of info and education here!)

As a recently "displaced worker", the state of Arizona has offered to help me get some training. I've narrowed down some choices, and will be going for my Net+ and Sec+ certs.

They require 2 informational Interviews done before I meet with them on Monday morning, either with someone that works in the industry, or someone that does the hiring for these types of positions. (Generalized is ok at this point, these are simply to justify paying for my training.)

These interviews will likely take 15-20 minutes, and I would greatly appreciate the help!

I'm thinking it should work if I do phone interviews, but hey, if anyone is available for a face-to-face in Tucson, that would be awesome too!

A little background: I'm in my 50s, and played my first computer game before we had monitors (anyone remember StrTrk?). Electronic assembly straight outta high school. Taught myself BASIC on a Timex/Sinclair. I still own a working KayPro CP/M machine. Generally been dabbling most of my life.
Some college courses/trade schools over the years, but never got that degree. (Life has a funny habit of getting in the way of itself), empty nester/widower now.

The most recent training was for Help Desk/PC support to get an A+ cert, back in 2003. I never got that cert, as at THAT time, an A+ was considered the equivalent of 1 yr experience, and I got hired before I even finished the course, so it seemed redundant. (just another folly of youth)
I did work at a help desk (approx 7 yrs) for one of the major ISPs in the early part of this century, including remote access for level 1 fixes and some virus/malware removal on privately owned PCs, before the bubble burst and I became jobless, and have been working mostly Customer Service since then. Another company closes it doors, and once again I am jobless.

So, anyone out there feel like talking about themselves and bragging to me for a few minutes? :)

Really, I'd be appreciative of any and all advice at this point.
