Hey Guys. I've been working at this company and my one year Internship was Completed on Wednesday. I was excited as our company had grown from 75 to about 150 people and is projected to grow to 200 employees. I worked for about 9.75 an hour 40hr a week. and when the time came for my internship to expire that called me into the office and offered to extend my internship with no raise or company benefits ....another year at the exact same salary. That was a huge disappointment to me because I thought for sure I would be given a raise and permanent position at the company at this point. Below is a list of the things I did on a daily basis at the company. Would you guys accept another year at the same salary?
I.T Support
-Configure Cisco switches/L3 Switches
-point of call for help desk (theres only 2 of us so...)
-configure all Cisco wireless devices on site, all ubiquity Wireless access points, Air fiber wireless point to point
-Printer/copier issues maintenance
-Troubleshoot various operating systems
- maintained server cabinet, Installing servers, Apc rack mount ups, kvms ect
- running, terminating cables keystone jacks ect
- telephony systems, ip phones
- Maintain site I.T. Inventory,Purchasing of all equipment, expiring licenses, various Ink and Toners, ect
- Manage the Entire Site when ever my boss is away or on vacation (63 acre site)
- manage and issue all keys, access control system, company issued laptops and mobile phones.
- All new employees I.T Setup, email setup shared folders network printers ect
- Supervising contractors to ensure that they are working safe and they are carrying our the scope of work the correct way as they were hired to do.
-maintaining the companies manufacturing software and computers. Scada system and the list goes on.

When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep, So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler And your need like an armed man.

tmtex Member Posts: 326 ■■■□□□□□□□You should at the very least double that. The helpdesk guys/girls where I work at make 20+ an hr and they are level 1, no certs required, very little experience. Don't decline but get out of there. I just looked back and you have net+, MCP, Win7 get the heck out of there

TechGuru80 Member Posts: 1,539 ■■■■■■□□□□What do you mean by accepting another year? Are you signing a contract? Some of that experience you could not get at an entry level help desk...just keep getting the experience and try to get a higher level job in the meantime.

I would start to seriously search for another position, you have some experience now, you should be able to land something that pays better and provides benefits. When you land that job, I would leave right away, no need to give two weeks notice. I sounds like to me the company is taking advantage of you, they should have made you a full time employee. Looks like they are going to use you as long as they can at $9.75 an hour and no benefits.Still searching for the corner in a round room. -

They told me they will look into it and I haven't heard from them in a month. ......the search is on.Looks like you are getting some great experience. Accept and keep learning as much as you can until you find something comparable but with a more appropriate salary
That's likely the plan:
