Looking for Opinions

Hi Everyone,

I have a user that does software development. As part of his job, he needs to be in both Windows and Linux environments. At the moment he dual-boots between Windows 7 Pro and Ubuntu. He is requesting to find a way to run the Ubuntu system within Windows, so that he can toggle back and forth. I am trying to see if it's possible to perform a P2V conversion of Ubuntu, and load VMware Workstation / VirtualBox / etc so that he can run Ubuntu within Windows.
The Ubuntu also needs access to the physical hardware on the system (USB ports, serial ports, etc).

Any ideas?

Yeah make an image of the Linux host and load it up on virtual box or VMware workstation. What's your role in the IT department? Usually by now most companies already have some type of a virtualized infrastructure and you can use that if you ask your storage guy or windows admin.

VMware has a P2V converter. From my understanding it's free, or at least an older version of it is. Might want to look into it.

P2v the Linux box, use vmware workstation to import the vm and have the user work on it from their desktop.
