Several questions about getting employed as a malware analyst/researcher

Hello, everyone. I’ve been looking at InfoSec-related jobs for a while and the area in InfoSec that appeals to me the most is malware research/reverse engineering, which seems to typically require a post-graduate degree. Starting next spring, I’ll be moving to DSU (Dakota State University) to pursue a BS degree in cyber operations and an MS degree in applied computer science. If I get accepted into their DSc cyber security program, I will do that too.

That being said, I have some questions if anyone can answer them.
(1) What’s the likelihood of getting a malware analyst type of job post-graduation with an MS degree? I have no work experience, but I have been studying a lot, and I will try to get as many internships and certifications as I can before graduation.
(2) A lot of the malware analyst jobs seem to require at least three years of closely related experience, so if I can’t find a malware analyst type of job post-graduation, what sort of related jobs should I look for?
(3) Besides the GREM, CISSP, and OSCE certifications, are there other certifications that employers would love to see?
(4) Are there any college courses that I should pay out of pocket for just because it would be worth it; perhaps computer forensics, computer architecture, calculus/advanced math, compiler construction or embedded programming? Those are some courses the degrees don’t cover.
(5) Should I spend more time learning Linux or Windows internals?
(6) Any other advice?

Thank you.
