Hi All
I wish u r in a good health.I am confused about some topics in RIP configuration and want u to help me
First: what is mean by "Apply offsets to routing metrics " and what does its usage ???
Second:what is mean by "The validation of source IP addresses " and what does its usage ???

The "Apply offsets to routing metrics " means you can manually increase the
number of hops to a destination.This is used if you have 2 or more paths to a destination and you want to asign preference to one path.By using the offset you can increase the number of hops to a destination and therefore the other
route with a lower hop count is used.
For Rip to process received updates it first must validate that the source sending the update is on the same subnet as the receiver, this is a security feature.When you disable "The validation of source IP addresses " this check is no longer preformed.
