If I set the Router to boot from tftp as I did:
boot system tftp asa842-k8.bin 192.168.1.2
the image from tftp stays in the tftp server and does
not get loaded to Router am I correct ?
I am confused as the show version shows the older IOS.
should i run the copy command also ?

So, that command will fail on a router and it goes on to the next boot option
on an asa the command would be like this:
tftp:///FONT]user[:passwordserver[:port]//FONT]path/[FONT=arialfilename
So, if your on an asa the command isn't correct
For a router, the command is right, but the name of the file would indicate that it is inappropriate for a router. -
satishtech Member Posts: 243Tried this command:
boot system tftp c2960-lanbasek9-mz.150-2.SE4.bin 192.168.1.2
my questions is , that when a boot system command is set to point to a file on a tftp server
than that ios will be running on the router ...? just unable to verify this.
running this on PT 7 2911 -
clarson Member Posts: 903 ■■■■□□□□□□the c2960-lanbasek9-mz.150-2.SE4.bin file is for a 2960 switch.
So, that is just going to fail on a 2911 router -
