Equivalent of MTA Windows OS?

What apple cert is the equivalent of a entry level MS cert such as Windows OS fundamentals? Where things are more abour how it works than troubleshooting?

Honestly, it would be ACSP. There is the Apple Certified Associate - Mac Integration Basics, but you should be able to pass that with a couple of hours of study. It's online and unproctored, so is perfectly possible to take the exam with the study guide in front of you.

The ACSP has an 800 page study guide. But the exam is relatively easy. The downside is that you have to take the exam at an Apple Authorised Training Centre, which might be a long way away, or might not offer the exams at convenient times.

If you are more enthusiastic, there is also a study guide for the Server app, which goes into more depth. There isn't (anymore) a corresponding certification for Server, though.

There are quite a few books on the OS, the command line, Server etc, but most of them are out of date, unfortunately. Apple does have some white papers, and some online manuals, but there isn't anything satisfactorily comprehensive like you might get from studying MCSE Server Infrastructure or RHCA or CCIE, or really even anything at MCSA level.

My impression is that Apple doesn't have much interest in its certification program beyond ensuring that the technicians in its authorised repair centres are competent. They've reduced the OS exam offerings massively since the days of 10.6, when you could take 4 exams to get ACSA certified, and had to have a good grasp of Open Directory.

Well it took me two days to study and pass so yeah defo. Its a 60 question exam though think MTA was like 35.. if you have experience with mac systems should be fine, if not id revise for a month rather than two days, I jus scraped through

Just did version 10.11 (work required). 48 questions, get 2 hours to do. If you deal with Macs on a daily basis, or have one at home, you should be able to pass this one easily with 2-3 days tops of studying.
