How long until you can show you passed/are certified?

I've read here that getting the certificate takes anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months, but is there some earlier way that you can show an employer you've passed? I haven't tried to change jobs in a long time (sysadmin for 20 years) so I never bothered to get any certs. Now I'm looking for a new job and most places here want sec+ prior to hiring.

Did you get a print out from the testing center?

Most just give you a printout right at the testing center after taking an exam on whether you pass or fail. Comptia does this with theirs, so you would know and have a way to show your employer right away.

You can print your cert from CompTIA's website like the next day.
