ACLs + object-groups ?

So i'm practicing doing a lot more ACLs. Do you guys use a lot of object-groups for services? Like is it common practice in large networks to use a ton of service object groups to categorize things so you don't have like 600 lines on an ACL?

How do larger companies handle large ACLS on cisco routers/firewalls?

p.s if so how do you categorize your service groups? Like one for group policy, and one for smtp etc. ?
