I last posted back in August:
Job hunt advice
Since then I got a job through an old friend. I am currently a Help Desk III (Lead) for a company that provides IT services for a financial company which also owns a bank. Basically we provide desktop/laptop deployment, desktop support for the local branch, and remote/phone support for the other branches. It's at least a job, and a paycheck which I did not have before. Pay is on the low side of the scale, but it works.
I report directly to the Service Desk Manager (the friend who got me the job), and the only way to advance would be for one of the managers to quit (not likely) be fired, or die. I intend on staying put for a while (been here a little over 3 months), I am passively looking for a higher paying position, with the boss's blessing (she admits the pay is low.)
I guess I'm just posting this for those who are getting discouraged. Stick with it and something will come along. Also ping everyone you know, they might know of something.
Good luck to everybody.
