Seeking pen testing career advice

Hey everyone,

I was hoping some of you in the security field could give me some advice. I'm trying to break into the InfoSec field specifically pen testing, but I lack the experience in the field. I knocked out the CompTia trio in 2016 to give me a basic foundation to build off of. I plan to spend the first half of 2017 gaining a deeper understanding of linux and the tcp/ip suite, but I'm not quite sure where to go after that. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
