So i had an interview last week, me and the lead net engineer spoke, position is for an entry network engineer. We spoke on my resume a bit, spoke on what i would be doing in the position, sounds good, didnt really ask me any technical questions, i have been at my noc position for over two yeas now.
Sounded like everything went well, i asked when would be the follow up interview he said he would arrange through HR for this week thursday, its thursday, do i follow up with a follow up email asking any pertinent questions and what can i ask.
Just looking for some help, i really would like this position, i am being called by recruiters and applying elsewhere but this sounds like a good opportunity.

There are many reasons that they don't respond today or even tomorrow, so you'd want to give them a little extra time. At leasts that's what I would do.

I think this kind of depends I usually ask "what happens next?", and sometimes they say "oh, if you don't hear from us in xxx days, give us a call" but other than that, do not bug them. I think that is generally the rule. I am sure there are exceptions, however, this is standard.

The hiring manager said "This was the most enjoyable interview I've had in years. No one has ever been able to answer ALL my technical questions, including the one I use to stump people" (it was about the Print Spooler service). I followed up for about 2 months, every week or so. HR person said "Don't worry, we won't keep you hanging. We still have some more interviews, and we'll let you know as soon as we know something." That was almost 5 months ago.
I really thought I knew the best procedures for following up so you don't seem pushy or laid back, but it seems companies are dropping the ball left and right. Going forward, I still plan on doing the once per week thing, until I hear a better technique.

If it's a position I actually really am interested in I would probably also state that I am interested and look forward to speaking with them again.
