Security Consultant Certs

Here is my situation, I am currently an independent security consultant mostly helping companies with blue team type solutions and or security business evals/reqs. I currently do not have any certs just as a note. I have a systems and network background mostly Cisco/Fortigate I do firewall conversions as well.


What I need help with is what do you guys see or want consultants to have cert wise? I haven't hit any walls with certs yet, but I figure it might not hurt to have some going forward. Either way thanks for the help and or ideas.

For a consultant I'd go straight to CISSP. It might not teach you a lot but customers have heard of it and some might have it as a requirement.

Yeah I have read the book before really do not like the cert at all, but I agree it might be a need to have at some point.

I would agree and go for CISSP and any other certs that align with your consulting. Also if you have any expertise in a specific solution i would get that cert as well
