Plan of attack for making use of a really big physical lab

So I've got limited access to a fairly large physical lab 20 switches/20 routers/30 computers all patched into a rack. I want to make the most of it without getting overwhelmed by the mass of equipment. Does anyone have advice on how they would attack such a large lab and make the most use of it?

My thoughts so far:

• Don't touch the lab until I at least have draw out some topologies to build (With the required details)
• Included in this topology would have to be constraints to make it interesting (bandwidth, delay modified, ACLs required)
• Read the objectives of the CCENT/CCNA and take ideas about different technologies to configure (portfast, port-security)

I know if I don't have a plan of attack I'll end up just wasting. Thoughts?
