Question about IOS
Cyphernatic
Hi all,
I'm studying for the ccent/ccna certs. If I have a router running IOS 15.1 (or just 15.. I forget) do I also need a switch running the same IOS version or can I get by with 12.1? The switch I have is a Catalyst 2950.
I'm using Packet Tracer as well, but in case I get the chance to expand my physical Lab I'd like to know which models support the newest IOS without breaking the bank. Thanks!

While it would be nice, it isn't required for your switch to be running the same version of the ios.
And, 121-22.EA14 is the last version that cisco made for the 2950. And, the 2950 with the close to latest ios will work just fine for the ccna.

You could get away with PT for CCENT/CCNA so I wouldn't sweat too much over the exact IOS version.

IPv6 is only supported with specific versions of IOS. select router from packet tracer with current IOS or upgrade
