Red Hat Certification or CCNP

Hi everyone. I'm at a crossroads (yet again) and wondering if someone can weigh in with some good advice.

I've always been interested in learning Linux. I'm wondering if I should obtain the RHCSA and possibly the RHCE, or get the CCNP (R/S) and pick up linux later, more as a hobby than a career move? Which of these two possible paths would be most beneficial and would the Red Hat certification/knowledge compliment my CCNA well? I realize I could ultimately do both, but even if I did, I still need to figure out which way to go first.

I think Linux knowledge would compliment networking knowledge extremely well. And systems knowledge would go well with your VCP, regardless of the OS.

I recommend going with what you're most interested in currently. If Linux peaks your interest more at the moment, go with that. If the CCNP is more interesting to you at the moment, go with that. Whichever one is left out, you can do 2nd.

I agree with this also. CHoosing otherwise will affect your motivation in the long run

Thank you both. Yeah, that's the problem...I am equally interested in both, believe it or not. So, I am seeing which one would be most beneficial to my career and start there.

It kinda depends on what kind of career path you want to take. What do you do today? And what would you w ant to do? For example, if you like working at fast-paced startups or cloud-based businesses, a CCNP is less relevant - although it's always good to understand network concepts.

Had a similar experience. I chose Linux and never went back.

If you like them both equally, how come you have a CCNA but no Linux cert?
