I need some help here. I got offered an interview at a technology company for a Support Analyst. It's like an IT outsourcing company. Anyways, it's about a $15000 pay cut before taxes. With that being said, they offer 100% employer paid healthcare (medical, dental, vision, life) coverage and 401k matching up to 4%. Currently, I work for the Tennessee Army National Guard as a GS11, which comes out to about $61k/yr. I am not a permanent employee - my "contract" is up as soon as some people get back from deployment at the end of the year. However, there is an option of me to convert o a permanent employee at that time if HR gives the OK. If I turn permanent, I would have to pay for healthcare and what not, but I am obligated to stay in the Guard - which I'm 50/50 on since I am due to get out in September. I guess my question is, is the pay cut worth it? It's 20 miles closer to home but the schedule is 8-5, whereas I'm working 7-330 now. The position is also very similar to what I am doing now. I just feel like I need to branch away from the military.

Any advice/help/criticism/life experience would be great!

That's a tough one, i used to work 7-3 shift and eveb though the mornings are tough to get up and be at work at 7, the fact that you finish at 3 is amazing. I'd get a 7-3 position in a heart beat today. So much free time after 3, so many things to do, especially if you have family and kids. So in your case, I'd stay untik i find something of equal pay.

Send out resumes and find something comparable. I love working 7-3.
