WGU: After BS - IT Security, go BS: Cybersecurity or higher certs?

So I have a bit of a choice to make here.

I'm nearly finished with an AAS in network administration from a local community college. As part of that process (plus a lot of off the books hours), by the end of the next quarter I'll have my CCNA R&S, CCNA Security, and my CompTIA Sec+. After that I'll be working, while continuing towards a B.S. Given my sparse local options, WGU seems to the best choice moving forward.

With the those three certs and various transferable Eng/Calc/Biology/Physics credits left over from an old 2 year run at a 4 year University, I'm probably 2/3+ of the way finished with the BS: IT Security degree, with the hardest part done already. (The CCNA's)

So the primary question is: Once I knock out the BS: IT Security degree, is the new Cybersecurity BS a decent choice? It has a lot of overlap on the basics with Security, and many of the involved certs seems like a good choice, but I feel really leery of any program with less than a year of operation. (From what I understand, it literally started today.)

Or is an independent study course for a more general cert (say CCNP Security) a brighter choice for someone probably 6 months to a year into their first IT job?

I have 3 months of open time this summer, and an extremely light load for the threee months after that, so I need to make a decision within 2 weeks or so about what direction I want to go, so I can get a head start.

Any input you could provide would be appreciated. There's only so far ahead I can plan ahead with no practical experience.
