Question regarding the 70-270

Hey all, I am not clear on one thing regarding this exam. If you pass the 70-270 are you considered certified in windows XP? Or do you have to still pass the other series of tests in order to certified?

Also, are the tech notes from this site good enough to pass the test or do you need other material? I posted this in the sticky thread but didnt get a response. I am looking into buying the following book, but before I do I would liek to know if anybody had used it and if it is any good.

Any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks... here is the book

Passing any single microsoft test will give you MCP status. 70-270 is part of the MCSA/MCSE track, and you will need to pass all of the tests on each respective track before you obtain their corresponding title.

As for your question about the technotes; it depends. While they're an excellent supplement to other material while preparing for the test, they're not meant to be a replacement for an actual course/textbook. Most people on this site use multiple sources when preparing for any exam.

Oh, and I'm currently reading the book you just linked to.
    CompTIA Tests: 220-301, 220-302, N10-003, SY0-101
    Microsoft Tests: 70-270, 70-271, 70-272, 70-536, 70-526, 70-502

Exactly, they are meant to supplement (to fill in the gaps, show it from a different/simplified perspective), not replace... I wrote 70-270 TechNotes for most of the exam objectives, and if you feel you already now most of it from experience for example, you would probably pass, but I woulodn't recommend using the TechNotes as your only study material.

So if you pass the 270 you will be considered certified in XP? But you willnot be considered certified in MCSA/MCSE?

So far what are your thoughts on the book?

I think this book is one of the best available to study for the 70-270. It was also one of the resources I used to study for this exam. I should also read some of these "PASSED" posts, where people describe what they have used for study.

If it's your first Microsoft exam, passing 70-270 will make you a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
