Description:
Job Position
This position is for Network Service Design and Delivery for enterprise class LAN/WAN Services at NASA Armstrong Research Center. This work includes Tier 3 Operational support for a wired/wireless LAN.
- Candidate should be adept at translating technical requirements from non- technical customers, and clear communications.
- Candidate should be accustomed to managing change control for projects.
- Candidate will be responsible to provide after-hours support as needed.
Required Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Cisco networking products (Cisco 3700 and 3800 series switches, Cisco 6500 series routers, Wireless LAN Controllers) and Cisco IOS software
- Working knowledge of Cisco Prime, Solarwinds, CA Spectrum, StruxureWare, ESXI
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain Cisco wired and wireless networks
- Must have experience with TCP/IP network
- 5 years of experience in Network Service Design and Delivery
- Basic knowledge about routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)
- Experience with general LAN technologies (CDP, 802.1q, 802.1x, 802.11, 802.1d, LLDP, port-security, etc.)
- Have excellent communication and writing skills, including developing and presenting training materials, implementation plans, and diagrams
- Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio and Project
- Cisco VoIP knowledge and experience is a plus
- Communicate and collaborate in cross-functional teams with other NICS Centers/teams
- Participate in Agency working groups
- Respond to trouble calls related to Cisco network (wired and wireless) products
- Performance of wireless surveys including use of a spectrum analyzer
- Meeting with customers to gather specialized networking requirements, especially related to wired and wireless networks
Desired Skills:
- Development of detailed implementation plans related to network projects
- Presentation of proposals for implementation of network projects
- Participation in peer reviews of implementation plans and architecture
- Development of operational training for designed services
Qualifications:
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor Degree or equivalent years of experience plus five years of related experience
Clearance Requirements:
Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance
Additional Information:
CCNA certification or better (not required but a plus)
